Sad news. Both of the new Alien games by Gearbox and Obsidian have been suspended or delayed. Is this the end? Not just yet. Sega has announced a new AvP game; coming out this year. Keep your hopes up, people!
Actor and wrestler John Cena is making quite a few movies these days. He even hinted at a role in a possible Predator remake. In an interview he did with Moviehole.net about his new film 12 Rounds, he said he'd like to play Jesse Ventura's (also an ex-wrestler) character.
"Just to be a part of that team would be awesome," Cena said. "I’d be happy playing Governor Ventura’s character – the gum-chewing, gun-toting Blain."

Petitions, interviews, articles...now videos! Ash Emritte wants to let us know he's made a YouTube video promo to...promote that director David Twohy should make the next AvP film. A good idea?
It's sort of like a slideshow, and pretty convincing. I wouldn't mind AvP3 in the style of Pitch Black, would you?
When I first heard about the online petition to get David Twohy (Pitch Black) to direct AvP3, I didn't take it too seriously. But petition master Christian Munoz's got into direct correspondance with Twohy. And now has written two articles in Fi-Sci.com about Twohy and AvP: Alien vs. Twohy and Alien vs. Twohy 2: Requem. They're pretty cool.
"Yeah, Christian, I checked out the petition and a few of the comments, some funny *beep* there, too. Seems like you've really the pot. Send it to me when you get a chance."
It's gotten almost two thousand signatures so far. Add yours?
This is not a joke. It's a comedy. Elton John's film company, Rocket Pictures, is planning a spin-off of Pride and Prejudice and the Predator. I'm not kidding! The British Guardian reports:
"It might prove something of a boon to those who reach for the remote control when yet another costume drama comes on television: Elton John's Rocket Pictures is developing a new spin on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, this time featuring a nefarious seven-foot extraterrestrial with hideous mandibles and a penchant for human blood. Yes, it's Pride and Predator.
"Will Clark, best known for his award-winning gothic comedy short The Amazing Trousers, will direct the film, which is being produced by Rocket partners Steve Hamilton Shaw and David Furnish.
...
"The news does come as something of a surprise, however, as 20th Century Fox had reportedly been planning a solo reboot for its Predator franchise, following critical scorn for 2007's Aliens vs Predator – Requiem."
That last part is interesting, too. Read the full article. Thanks to Allen Nguyen for the news.
MTV Movies has done an interview with Sigourney Weaver about the Alien saga. She mentions she's interested in an Alien 5, and even said there was a script for it by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Check it out:
"It’s official: Ellen Ripley is the most badass female movie character of all time. So now the only question that remains is a simple one: Will we ever see her again? 'You know, Fox was going to do another one,' Sigourney Weaver said to us recently while accepting Ripley’s honor. 'They had it written. Joss Whedon wrote it.'
"As Weaver remembered it, however, the script from the 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' mastermind just didn’t rock her world. “It took place on earth,' she explained. 'Which, I have to say, just really didn’t interest me. And I just felt that every time we went out there, we needed to have a really original piece.'
"Which is a shame, because Weaver said that at the time she was perfectly willing to take on the Aliens once again. 'I was all for going back to the original planet; I thought that would be interesting,' she explained. 'But I was alone in that; we couldn’t really agree on what would be interesting.'"
She goes to explain her dissapointment with the AvP movies. Read the full interview.
First, the Aliens FPS was delayed till 2010. Now the Alien RPG, being developed by Obsidian, has been indefinitely suspended, according to Gamespot. Obsidian representatives have re-directed all questions to Sega.
"We will have more news to share about our Aliens franchise games in the near future," Sega says. "[We do] not comment on rumors or speculation about [our] products.... Please stay tuned for future correspondence regarding our products."
"Actually, Sega says this move was done to make way for the new AvP game; coming out this year. But there's been rumors that many Obsidian staff have actually been laid off.
No doubt the global economic crisis had something to do with this. I hope at least one of the games come out....
