Why Fish Oil?

Fish Oil. What the Heck is it?
Well, fish oil is really just what it sounds like. It's the oil found in fish, and abundantly present in cold water fish like salmon and mackerel. What's so special about fish oil is that it is a tremendous source of Omega-3 fatty acids. Now, even though "fatty acids" sounds like it would be bad for you, think of Omega-3 fatty acids as "essential oils" instead. Your body needs Omega-3 "essential oils" in order to live, but there aren't a whole lot of ways to get it. The best source is the oil found in fish, which is being found to be more and more essential as scientific studies progress. Now, people all over the world are starting to eat Fish Oil as a dietary supplement in order to maintain their health and vitality.
Okay, so Fish Oil has
Omega-3 fatty acids. What's that?
An excellent question. Well, think of Omega-3 as fats that are good for you. Unlike the fat that comes from your hamburger that is bad for you and clumps up once the frying pan gets cold, Omega-3 is an essential oil. We call it an oil because at room temperature it remains in liquid form. Fish oil is sort of a counterpart to vegetable oil, which is a source of Omega-6 fatty acids. Both are essential, but due to dietary changes over the course of history, people today tend to have way too much Omega-6 and not nearly enough Omega-3. The answer is to either eat more fish, or take Omega-3 dietary supplements to re-establish the balance in the body.
What if I don't want to eat Fish Oil? How else can I get Omega-3?
You're in trouble. See, your body can't produce Omega-3 fatty acids. You could eat a whole lot of flaxseed oil and walnut oil, but those only contain alpha-linolenic acid, which your body will then need to convert to eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in order to really be good for you. The problem is, the process is inefficient and becomes more difficult as you get older. FishOil, however, is a direct source of both EPA and DHA. It's pretty much the only way to get the real benefits of Omega-3 oils.
Why are Omega-3's so essential?
You're already loading up on Omega-6 oils, that's pretty much a given. Omega-3 complements your current diet by doing the opposite of the Omega-6. Omega-6 is responsible for blood clotting which is good when you're injured, but not so great when you have heart problems. Omega-6 oils can also cause inflammation and tumor growth. Omega-3 oils work to reduce the same things,
they support a healthy heart, and a healthy immune system. Too much of either is bad for you, but since you can't really get Omega-3 in any other foods, FishOil is a fundamental part of your diet that you're probably overlooking.
So what
exactly has Scientific research shown so far?
Scientific evidence has shown a diet rich in long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids
supports: A healthy heart, brain, immune system, joint movement, kidneys, a
balanced mood and sense of well being, strength and stamina, and even helps
maintain cholesterol levels that are already within the normal range.
