OCEANSIDE ---- From programs that battle teen substance abuse to efforts to provide food for the elderly, Tri-City Medical Center recently spread its annual grant awards across a spectrum of nonprofit organizations, giving a total of $300,000 to 19 different groups.

If you're a regular commuter on Highway 78, you're probably familiar with Primo Food Market, the freeway-facing supermarket that always has a cloud of fragrant smoke rising from its hugely popular outdoor carne asada grill. What you may not be familiar with is Adelita's, a small restaurant that Primo owner Sam Assi opened in Vista two years ago. Adelita's (in the Vons shopping center) carries the same traditional Mexican food items as Primo ---- carne asada, grilled beef tacos, pollo asada, burritos, chorizo, barbecued ribs, tamales, carnitas and bakery items ---- but in a sit-down, cafeteria-style restaurant.
