This time, it's for real: Get rid of NPR and PBS
A House panel has voted to eliminate all public funding for NPR and PBS, starting with "Sesame Street," "Reading Rainbow," and other commercial-free children's shows. If approved, this would be the most severe cut in the history of public broadcasting, threatening to pull the plug on Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch. Although with all the merchandising and toys sold with these shows images, the free market should be able to sustain themselves from all the profits made from the Cookie Monster!
Help Air a TV Ad on Social Security
George W. Bush is going to make Social Security private accounts a key part of his State of the Union address this week. After his speech he is going on a cross-country tour to promote his agenda. A completely voluntary approach to taking a small percentage and giving the same options federal government workers have to invest in stocks and bonds.
Keep Sinclair's The Point on The Local News
Every night, Sinclair Broadcasting vice president Mark Hyman gives a conservative rant called "The Point" which most of Sinclair's 62 stations are required to air during their local news. "The Point" predictably attacks Democrats and progressives while praising George Bush. No counterpoint is offered. Our friends at Media Matters for America are spearheading a campaign to demand balance on Sinclair's evening news by telling Sinclair's advertisers about the partisanship they're supporting.

When the news is that no WMDs have been found, WMDs become Bush's only reason to go to war. Back when the WMD angle had yet to be verified, the problem was that Bush offered too many rationales. Which is it?
MoveOn.org Mishaps
A misdirected rotest organized June 1 by MoveOn, a liberal political action committee, drew about 20 people to the Michigan Avenue office of U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Brighton. Demonstrators protested Rogers’ ties to embattled House Majority Leader Tom Delay.
A Good Laugh: Al Gore Speaks on Fear: Its Political Uses and Abuses
Who is the party of fear? Who had always used social security as an issue to scare seniors? Who has always claimed the evil republicans of stealing from social security to pay for the top one percents tax cuts. Al Gore in his campaign tried to scare seniors in giving examples of his mothers medication, when it turned out not to be true at all. Now democrats are spouting how the medicare reforms will rob seniors and pay the drug companies. Again who is using fear for political gain?
On the Coldest Day in Years: Al Gore Speaks on Global Warming and the Environment
In this, his third major speech sponsored by MoveOn, Mr. Gore issued an indictment of the Bush administration's inaction on global warming, linking the issue to national security. He showed that global warming is not a future threat -- it is happening now. Yet Mr. Gore and President Clinton had 8 years and nothing happened.
