Updates and News:
07-01-07 El Salvador Santa Leticia is now available on our green coffee offering page under the "Central American" heading. Very fresh, very good. This coffee is an excellent choice for single-origin espresso as well as for French Press brewing.
06/29/07 The anxiously awaited El Salvador coffee arrived yesterday somewhat unexpectedly. What a pleasant surprise indeed! Sourced directly from the grower, there are two distinct varietals from this particular estate. I'll get them posted on our offering page this weekend along with detailed descriptions. These are two very nice coffees.
06/11/07 - Tarrazu and Sumatran Decaf arrived today and are back in stock. Coming next................some incredible coffee from El Salvador. Hopefully we'll be getting this in within the next couple of weeks along with a detailed write-up of its origins. This should be an exciting time for home roasters (heck, exciting for any roasters for that matter) because very some excellent quality specialty grade New Crop coffees from Latin America are just now clearing Customs and becoming available (now that was a mouth full).
06//5/07 - Long awaited New Crop Tarrazu is on the way. This time it's for real and well worth the wait. From the Tres Rios region of Tarrazu, these new beans cup very chocolatey, delicate, rich, coconut notes, clean, silky body. We expect to have them at our loading dock on June 11.
05/29/07 - Kona is back in stock!
05/15/07 - Harrar is back in Stock!
05/13/07 - Incoming Coffee Update. Looks like we jumped the gun on the Tarrazu. We were informed from our Tarrazu-supplier that it will not be available until the end of the month. On another subject, we were surprised to find some good Ethiopian Harrar Horse Longberry, which should be arriving at our loading dock within the next couple of days. We're also stocking up on the Sumatran Harimau Tiger that has been all the rage lately, so we should have enough to last at least a couple of months, maybe longer.
05/07/07 - New Crop Costa Rican Tarrazu is on the way. Should be here by the end of this week or early next week.
04/07/07 Colombian San Augustin is back on our offering page. "New Crop" coffees are starting to arrive from Latin America. More will be posted in the coming months. On a bad note; we've sampled from several Ethiopian Harrar Longberry lots, but none have made it past our cupping room. Excessive rains in the Harrar region this year have had a negative impact on quality. The coffees we cupped seemed okay roasted dark, but anything less than a full city roast produced a rather bland, flat cup without the vibrant winey tastes typical of good Harrar coffee. We'll continue to search, but don't be surprised if we don't find a good one for awhile. We have enough "current crop" stock to last a few more weeks, after that, Ethiopian Kafa "Natural Wild Forest" coffee is our recommended alternative to Harrar.
03/31/07 - We just finished cupping a rather exotic new arrival: Ethiopian Kafa Natural Wild Forest Coffee. This is one of those varietals that, "when it's gone, it's gone" - meaning it's difficult to come by. The coffee comes from the birthplace of coffee (hence the name "Kafa") and is grown on some very antiquated plants. Some of them are thought to be 300 years old! A more thorough description is written by "clicking on the related bean" on our green coffee offering page.
03/20/07 - New: Natural Yellow Bourbon Fazenda Cachoeira from Brazil. The intense flavor of this coffee will knock your socks off! What else can I say? Formal cupping notes are included in the description that can be accessed from our green coffee offering page.
