Be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share.

Hunger Relief Organizations
This web site provides a rich source of links to the most highly respected and frequently used hunger relief organizations. We also provide world hunger statistics which characterize the extent of the problem. Our list of organizations involved in the elimination of world wide hunger can be found at Hunger Relief Organizations.

World hunger statistics should be of great concern for any morally conscious individual. By examining hunger statistics with a concomitant listing of hunger relief organizations, it is our hope that concerned individuals will give to the relief organizations of their choice.
Most people realize that there is enough food in the world
so that most world citizens do not need to starve to death. In terms of the world hunger perspective, most experts agree that the underlying causes of starvation is poverty. So to address the problem of hunger, then the problem of poverty must be addressed.

Other then the basic underlying structure of poverty, societies which have a high incidence of death by starvation have other common characteristics. Some of these characteristics include use of land in non-productive ways, exporting of crops and not keeping enough food within their country, agricultural practices that are not efficient, war, drought, over-fishing, and low crop yields.
The only resolution for the morally conscious individual, is to give freely to highly respected and reputable hunger relief organizations. This may only be a temporary solution but for now, it is the only solution. Giving to those in need is what this web site is all about.
This web site can be considered a world portal which has been developed in order to provide a central hub of links to most of those hunger relief organizations involved in the elimination of starvation across the globe.
World Hunger Statistics
The following world hunger statistics come from highly reliable sources. For the most updated hunger statistics, go to Starvation.net.
The number of people dying per day of hunger has increased from approximately 24,000 to 29,000 over the past two years. As of this writing, which is December 2005, 29,000 people per day are dying of hunger. That is approximately
one person every other second. Approximately 85% of these are children. Lets examine more world hunger statistics.
Most countries in the world have the potential to grow enough food to feed themselves, but the fact remains that 54 countries currently can not create enough food to feed their own people. Also, these countries are so poor that they can not afford to import food. Most of these countries are in the sub-Saharan region of Africa.

Most of the hunger in the world is the result of poverty. On top of this, deliterious events usually occur yearly. Events such as droughts, floods, armed conflict, political, social and economic disruptions also are contributors to hunger and starvation.

The cost to eliminate world hunger in relative terms is slight. The United Nations Development Program estimates that $13 billion is what is needed to provide for the health and nutritional needs of the world's poorest people. The total spent on pet food in the USA and Europe each year exceeds that which is needed to eliminate world wide hunger. The most interesting data of the world hunger statistics. These statistics clearly show the extent of the world hunger problem.

Ways You Can Help
These world hunger statistics should be unacceptable to any morally conscious individual. There is enough food in the world to adequately feed every human being on this earth.
Starvation can be eliminated to a large degree if there is enough caring individuals in the world who are willing to give to the hunger relief organizations of their choice.
World hunger may never be eliminated completely but when 29,000 people per day are dying, most certainly more can be done.
Some hunger relief organizations provide a unique and effective way to give. Two popular "click to donate" sites are The Hunger Site and Stop the Hunger. These sites have a button you can click and with each click, sponsors will donate food to the starving. Please go to one of these sites and make it your home page. You will then be reminded daily to click their button which cost you nothing but a few seconds of your time.
Go to Humane.net for a comprehensive list of the best "click to donate" sites.
It only requires a click of the mouse to help feed those starving in the world.
Our listing of hunger relief organizations have been scrutinized for integrity.
It is our hope that you find within your heart the desire to help those who are less fortunate then yourself. Please donate today. Bookmark this site so that you can donate in the future.
